Learning to drift without rage-quitting

Learning to drift without rage-quitting

May 9, 2026 · Miklós Váradi

Arcade racers like Neon Drift Circuit look simple until you realize good players are chaining drifts through corners you're barely surviving. The gap between the two comes down to when you commit to the turn.

First thing: switch off tilt controls if you're struggling. Touch gives you far more precision, and precision is what drifting needs. I fought the tilt for hours before making the switch and everything clicked afterward.

Second, tap the brake just before the apex, not during it. You want the drift to start early so you can steer through the whole curve. Late braking sends you into the wall every time.

Finally, race your own ghost. Beating a slightly worse version of yourself teaches you more than losing to top-tier opponents. Small, steady improvements beat frustration.
